Planning Ahead for Out-of-Town Weddings
Amanda and Lance live in Schreiber, a charming town a bit of a drive from Thunder Bay. Despite the distance, I was thrilled to travel for their wedding. This trip gave me a chance to explore a unique location and meet some wonderful people. Schreiber’s small-town vibe made the event feel very personal. I connected with the couple in their hometown, met their family and friends, and captured breathtaking shots at Schreiber Beach. The setting was a photographer’s dream!
How We Made It Work: The Importance of Logistics
Smooth planning is key for an out-of-town wedding. Amanda and Lance reached out months before the big day to discuss logistics. We quickly decided that staying in Schreiber the night before and after would be best. This way, I could start early and stay focused throughout the day. It also meant I’d be well-rested and ready to capture every special moment. Though I didn’t charge for the travel day, I needed extra funds for travel and accommodation. Amanda and Lance were happy to arrange my stay, and everything went smoothly.
Why I Love Photographing Weddings in Unique Locations
I love out-of-town weddings because each town offers unique charm. Every couple brings their own personality, too. With Amanda and Lance, I captured the essence of Schreiber — from cozy homes to the stunning beach backdrop. These experiences make out-of-town weddings so special for me as a photographer.
