Derelicte 14: A Fashion Odyssey

On the

enchanting evening of March 30th, 2024,

Thunder Bay, Ontario, witnessed the convergence of art, fashion, and music at the Black Pirates Pub as Derelicte 14: A Fashion Odyssey unfolded its spellbinding spectacle. As an event photographer, I had the privilege of capturing every electrifying moment of this extraordinary affair.

Derelicte 14, proudly hosted by the Definitely Superior Art Gallery, was more than just a fashion show. It was a vibrant celebration of creativity and self-expression. From the pulsating beats of live bands like Mother of Wolves and The Shouldn’ts to the mesmerizing performances of the Def Sup go-go dancers, the night was a kaleidoscope of sights and sounds. Each moment begging to be immortalized through the lens of my camera.

As the event kicked off, the air crackled with anticipation, setting the stage for an evening of exhilarating performances and avant-garde fashion. Belly Dance Fusion, Beatrix Muse, and the World Dance Collective graced the stage with their mesmerizing choreography, their movements weaving a tapestry of rhythm and grace that begged to be captured in photographs.

Runway

But it was on the Runway

But it was on the runway where the true magic unfolded. Local models strutted with confidence and poise, adorned in exquisite garments sourced from Thunder Bay’s finest fashion boutiques. Perfect Fit Lingerie, Silver Cedar Studio, and the African Boutique showcased their latest collections. Each piece a testament to the ingenuity and craftsmanship of local designers.

Yet, the pièce de résistance of the evening was undoubtedly the wearable art fashion shows. As the spotlight illuminated the runway. A parade of avant-garde creations took center stage, each piece a fusion of innovation and imagination. From upcycled materials to boundary-pushing designs, the wearable art defied conventions, blurring the lines between art and fashion. Artists such as Wiggins Productions, Michel Dumont, and Samantha Jolene pushed the boundaries of creativity, their works leaving an indelible mark on the collective consciousness of all who bore witness.

my night

As an event Photographer

My mission was clear. To capture the essence of Derelicte 14 in every frame. From the intricate details of the costumes to the dynamic movements of the dancers. I sought to immortalize the spirit of creativity and passion that permeated the night. With each click of the shutter, I captured moments of raw emotion and unbridled energy, transforming fleeting instants into timeless works of art.

As the night drew to a close, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for being part of such an unforgettable experience. Derelicte 14 had been a feast for the senses, a whirlwind of color, sound, and style that left an indelible impression on all who attended. And as I packed up my camera gear, I couldn’t help but look forward to the next iteration of this extraordinary event. Eager to once again document the magic of Derelicte for the world to see.
