Recreating a Magical Moment with Steph & Mac

There’s something undeniably magical about winter in Thunder Bay—especially when it’s paired with a love story like Steph and Mac’s. When Steph reached out to me with the amazing news that Mac had just proposed, her joy was contagious. She said yes in one of the most breathtaking spots in the region: a massive cliff overlooking their homeland and community. It’s the kind of place that’s not only beautiful but deeply meaningful—a perfect setting for a life-changing moment.

Steph and Mac loved the proposal location so much, they wanted to recreate the moment with an engagement photo session. The catch? Winter had fully arrived in Thunder Bay, transforming their beloved cliffside into a snow-covered, windswept (and slightly less accessible) adventure. But if you know me, you know I’m always up for turning challenges into stories worth capturing.

A Winter Plan with Warm Hearts

To reach the original proposal spot, we loaded into a side-by-side vehicle—a practical and warm way to make the snowy trek more comfortable. Winter engagement photos in Thunder Bay come with a few extra layers (literally), but Steph and Mac handled the cold like absolute champs. Despite rocking stylish, photo-worthy outfits, they kept warm by hopping back into the side-by-side between shots—and even warmed their hands by a fire Mac built at the top of the cliff. It was the perfect blend of romantic and rugged.

I came fully prepared in my one-piece parka, which allowed me to lie right in the snow and find those unique angles that tell a story beyond just a pose. And what a story these two had to share.
